About a mile from me is Lake Murry.
I go there for a late afternoon walk; it’s a beautiful place.
It’s fun to watch the children and the wildlife.
In the second picture, notice that the little girl’s eyes are closed as she’s reaching out to that whatever-it-is bird (avian101?)
Recently two new signs showed up at the Lake:
In California, parents are responsible for the actions of their juvenile children, but wouldn’t you like to see the Officer who arrests the parents of that little girl for feeding that whatever-it-is bird? Viral video here we come….
Besides, who can resist feeding these creatures of Mother and Father Nature?
Wonder what these two pigeons are saying about the new signs:
I’m sure when I show the Judge this picture, s/he’ll let me off:
Of course, if s/he’s a Judge who rules on the law, I’m sunk. I’ll be back after serving my jail time and paying my $20,000 fine.

the fine is a bit over the top, and then there’s the cost of confining the sweet soul who was offering bread crumbs, ah yes, the view of justice gets better and better…really love your pics Russel, beautiful!

Thanks!
I discovered long ago that there is no justice system, only a legal system. They are vastly different. lol

I really like the photos. As to feeding the animals: on the one hand, “everyone else does it, too” is – of course -no excuse, but on the other hand, why forbid it at all? I mean, doesn’t it teach children to take care of animals when we allow them to feed birds and squirrels? Or are they really that ubiquitous there and a nuisance [the birds and squirrels, not the children 😉 ] that such a law is necessary?

I’ve discovered that when it comes to California, who knows? These politicians out here are like none other.
By the way, I see you’re in Karnes City, Texas. My dad’s side of the family are all from Floresville. If you run into any Hartmanns or Kirks, they all are relatives of mine. I used to be Russel Ray Kirk, now just Russel Ray.

Here, in Staten Island, if we had that law that you can’t feed wildlife, I would have spent my life in prison or broke from paying fines. In Manhattan, I’ve seen the sign “Remember if you feed wildlife, you are also feeding the rats.”

Are rats not wildlife? Hmmm.
Of course, I remember in 1999 when I was waiting at a station and saw the biggest rate I’ve ever seen. I was afraid that if it got hit by a train, the train would derail!

His rear end is kind of pretty, but that face? Only a mother and some briders would love! lol

Remember that I mentioned “old” Muscovy Duck. With age the the face faux wattles increase as with wrinkles in humans.

That’s a white-crested duck. I’ll have to remember “odd head gear.” lol
The white-crest is a genetic mutation that apparently is rather common.

That’s for the birds.

So to speak. I can see me now: “But Judge, your Honor, Sir, a fine and jail time for feeding the birds is, uh, well, for the birds!”

Judge: “The ducklings are adorable, but five years in prison and a $20,000 fine for feeding them.” lol

A long time ago I use to go to a pond and feed the ducks Fiddle Faddles. Now that is worthy of a prison sentence.
Sad sign.

The little ducklings are adorable!!! That one bird looked larger than the child though, I’d be afraid it would eat her! lol

I think that’s why that poor little girl had her eyes closed. She wanted so much to feed the bird but it was so big she didn’t want to see what might happen. lol

Feeding the birds at the park and lake was one of my favorite things to do as a kid!! Bummer that there is a fine there. We still save old bread in my house for a walk to the pond!

At $3.799 per gallon (the price of yesterday’s fillup), that’s 5,264.5 gallons of gas, or about 115,820 miles of driving. Hmmm. Might be time for a new car. lol
