Jim’s brother had a stroke yesterday and is in the hospital, which meant that there was a lonely scared kitty up at his place.
Ergo, J&R Rescue Service went to work and rescued Ninja today.
Two pictures of Ninja in our laundry room chowing down.
Ninja will be staying with us for a while; not sure how long, though.
Zoey the Cool Cat was not too happy whereas Ninja was, like, oh, another cat. Ninja once was an outdoor cat so she’s probably seen lots of cats. Zoey the Cool Cat, on the other hand, has never been an outdoor cat, so at the age of 11½, this is her first up-close-and-personal experience with another feline.
Please let Zoey know she is such a good little girl for sharing her home with a poor helpless and fatherless cousin for the time being. I’ve had fur friends and know how much they want their human all to themselves, but with patience and time, and no attention paid to the visitor, they will sometimes, rarely, maybe, perhaps, probably not, hopefully, ah heck, it just ain’t happening with cats. Dogs, maybe, but the kitties are too possessive and independent and territorial. Just avoid them if the fur starts flying. The claws can really smart when applied to flesh! You are a good human being.

The night went far better than I actually thought it would. Ninja was locked in the laundry room and Zoey the Cool Cat guarded the door outside. No hissing, growling, or trying to claw each other under the door.

So sorry to hear about Jim’s brother. Hope he recovers fully and can come home soonish.
Ninja seems like a sweet cat. I hope she and Zoey sort out their differences, but you may just have to grit your teeth and bear it.:(

I don’t know if they will sort out their differences, and hopefully Ninja won’t have to be separated from the head of her staff for too long. The house is big enough so that I’m going to let Zoey the Cool Cat have the master bedroom for a while today and let Ninja wander around the house and rub her smell on everything. See what happens when Zoey the Cool Cat returns.

The night went better than I actually thought it was going to go as we were driving home yesterday. This will work at least for the short term. Good thing I work at home, though.

Glad you rescued/helped Ninja, and hope Zooey will get used to her.

They still are in separate corners but Zoey the Cool Cat now walks by the laundry room door without growling and hissing. Another 24 hours or so and they’ll probably be grooming each other.

When we rescued a kitten from an empty lot (in Mexico) our old cat didn’t like it one bit. She never did accept the kitten. It was a constant stand off.

I have been able to get these two within about six feet of each other before Zoey the Cool Cat says, “Close enough!” with some growling and hissing.

aw, poor kitty. I don’t think my cat would take too well to strange cats either.

They are co-existing, but not happily.

Zoey has our condolences. Sharing humans is hard, Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty (We feel bad for Mr Jim too)

They are tolerating each other, kind of ignoring each other unless Ninja the Visiting Fat Cat gets too close to Zoey the Cool Cat, then ZCC starts the growing and hissing. Ninja the Visiting Fat Cat goes home tomorrow after three weeks with us.

So Jim’s brother is better? Glad to hear it. Poor Ninja – cats don’t like to be called fat according to the two here

Jim’s brother has some memory problems and some minor left-side paralysis problems but otherwise he’s okay. Ninja the Visiting Fat Cat was, well, fat. No other way to say it………lol
