Caturday — Photoshopping cat pictures into drawings

If you missed Cat Eyes in a previous post from the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, here it is:

That drawing has a mesmerizing effect on me. And to think it was done by a girl in the fourth grade. Since it has mesmerized me, I thought I would take some cat pictures and photoshop them into black and white drawings. I have included the original photograph for those who don’t like black & white drawings. Some pictures I like, some I don’t. Some drawings I like, some I don’t.

Number 11 is my favorite picture.

My favorite drawing is #7 followed very closely by #2, then #3.

I’m not sure I’ll ever create something in Photoshop that is as good as what that fourth-grade girl drew by hand, but I’m inspired to experiment and have fun!

I love the expression of the leopard in #9 but the drawings are missing something for me and I couldn’t figure out how to get it in there. That’s one of those pictures that deserves further attention.

That’s cool! I’d definitely turn a photo into a drawing and take credit – “yeah, I drew it … ” – if I took photos of cats. Oh, and had photoshop.

I wonder if you can do the same thing with diner waitresses.

Good stuff as always, my friend.

It is fun to do with with your photos. I often take pictures that perhaps are not in focus or not quite right…and then you apply a filter, and presto! Magically it is a work of art. Thanks for the fun post.
