Kids just wanna have fun

I have been experimenting with adding music to videos.

The problem is finding royalty-free music that won’t upset the copyright police at YouTube.

Today I was at the Viejas Outlet Center, the finest outlet center I’ve ever been to with its many streams, water fountains, and sculptures. It’s a great place not only to shop but to simply relax in the mountain air of Alpine, California.

The Viejas Outlet Center is part of the Viejas Casino & Resort which is operated by — are you ready for this! — the Viejas (Baron Long) Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians of the Viejas Reservation, also called the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians.

Following is a video of my favorite water fountain at Viejas, and quite possibly my favorite of all time. The video is 3:43. The audio was horrible so I took a digital file of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise,” applied some echo to it using Audacity, and then used Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 to delete the original audio, insert the new audio, and then stretch the 2:45 “Fur Elise” to 3:43 to match the video. So far YouTube’s not having a copyright problem with it! See what you think.

Now that I know a little more about what I can do to satisfy YouTube’s copyright police, I can experiment to find what satisfies them but sounds good, too. I’m not overly thrilled with the sound on this video, but overall not bad for a first shot at this.

Not bad for a first try…..I am not nearly that talented with audio files, now movie files, yes. But you have to watch out for the mind police there too. I got a letter once or twice from my ISP that I had downloaded something that violated copyright laws….so be careful….it’s an annoying part of file sharing, but as you have found out, very real.

So far, so good – but how are we going to know if you wind up in the slammer? Someone will have to create a video and put “Jailhouse Rock” to it. And wind up in jail with you.

    What a vicious cycle.
