Goodbye July! Hello August!

SeaWorld

People say we don’t have seasons here in San Diego, but actually we have more seasons than most places:

  • Rainy Season — January
  • Spring — February
  • Summer — March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October
  • Fire Season – March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October
  • Tourist Season — Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend
  • Fall — November
  • Winter — December

During the tourist season, SeaWorld San Diego has a nightly fireworks show. It lasts four to five minutes and starts somewhere between 9:50 and 9:52 p.m., depending on exactly when the last Shamu show ends.

Here is SeaWorld’s fireworks show from the night of July 31, 2013:

Don’t you have a Fire Season over there? If we didn’t have all these eucalyptus trees imported from Australia in the 1850s, our Fire Season would be much shorter I think…….lol

Actually, I should have put winter in January. In the 20 years I have been here, it has snowed twice, and that’s at the San Diego airport where the official weather records are recorded.

I like your take on the seasons… Coming from the East Coast where we do have four very distinct seasons – summer, fall, winter, and spring – and you can easily distinguish between the four, I beg to differ. I’ve lived in San Diego for about a year, and I think it feels like endless spring all year (not summer.) I also don’t think there’s a rainy season here at all – but then again I’ve been through several tropical storms on the East Coast. 😉
