The government shutdown has ended.
Many furloughed government employees are back at work today, again earning money to pay the bills.
Many businesses, such as those near national parks that were shut down, have been hurting these past sixteen days.
I don’t pretend to understand why people enjoy hurting other people, especially when their actions hurt children, women, the elderly, the sick, the homeless. Wait, yes I do. It’s always macho men who enjoy hurting other people. The history of the world….
Those same people like to say that the United States is a Christian nation yet they fail to understand that Jesus Christ, their so-called savior, was constantly taking care of the poor and homeless, healing the sick, and basically being the first liberal in history.
I understand wanting to have enough money to pay bills, buy big-boy toys, and pay for the retirement years, but, really, at what point is enough, enough? $1 million? $100 million? $1 billion?
Why is it that the United States—often called the greatest country in the history of the world—cannot find the means to take care of its citizens, especially children, the sick, and the homeless?
