Yesterday, Jim and I went to the Spring fundraiser for Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, California, a suburb of Fresno.
We noticed that between Bakersfield and Fresno, there were no grocery stores and very few restaurants, of which about 9 out of 10 were closed.
There were, however, thousands and thousands of acres of orange, peach, and olive orchards; and vineyards; many dozens of oil refineries and fruit silos and train loading facilities; and several very long Union Pacific freight trains, the longest of which I counted at 239 cars, five lead engines, and two end engines, or about two miles long.
We did find one market after going through miles and miles of orchards and vineyards, but Jim and I did not stop….
It’s never too late to donate to your local animal shelter to help with their expenses, or to adopt one of their residents. You can also adopt from Cat House on the Kings or donate to help defray their expenses in providing for their 700+ cats, a dozen dogs, and a handful of goats (cash; cat, dog or webcam sponsorship; items from their Amazon wish list; and more!).
