Yesterday, Jim and I went to the Spring fundraiser for Cat House on the Kings in Parlier, California, a suburb of Fresno.
We noticed that between Bakersfield and Fresno, there were no grocery stores and very few restaurants, of which about 9 out of 10 were closed.
There were, however, thousands and thousands of acres of orange, peach, and olive orchards; and vineyards; many dozens of oil refineries and fruit silos and train loading facilities; and several very long Union Pacific freight trains, the longest of which I counted at 239 cars, five lead engines, and two end engines, or about two miles long.
We did find one market after going through miles and miles of orchards and vineyards, but Jim and I did not stop….
It’s never too late to donate to your local animal shelter to help with their expenses, or to adopt one of their residents. You can also adopt from Cat House on the Kings or donate to help defray their expenses in providing for their 700+ cats, a dozen dogs, and a handful of goats (cash; cat, dog or webcam sponsorship; items from their Amazon wish list; and more!).

Well, if a post features an S&M Market, and is not approved by Zoey the Cool Cat, I am not sure I should be reading this. 😀

That´s a lucky cat.
I´ll donate my two bullmastiff dogs to the shelter, they can pee and eat all the other animals food and make dodoo in huge huge quantities. Try to take care of these two beasts.

LOL………….. I know of which ye speak. I ended my big dog stage (Rottweiler and Great Dane) a couple of decades ago.

Heehee. I would have tried to take a peek through the windows and then run out of there because curiosity killed the cat.

But with just a peek, I also would have taken a picture for posterity, or at least to help with the curiosity of my readers here……….LOL

Do they get any customers? 😉 Maybe they should have planned their business name better. Anyway, it’s funny.

You can see the parking lot is empty. We were by there at 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon.

My phone book listing is S & M McEvoy. Wouldn’t have had nearly as much abuse from the British side of the family if it had gone in with hubby’s initial first LOL. Remember years ago being in the heart of orchard country in British Columbia. We stayed in a hotel right across from one of the biggest markets in the valley and were thrilled to find Peach Pie on the menu. Imagine our disappointment when it turned up made from tinned peaches. Sob! As a household with 3 adopted cats, and 2 adopted dogs, I thank you for your fundraiser efforts! 😀

I have the same problem here in San Diego, 10 miles north of the Mexican border, with “fresh jalapeños” Ha! “Fresh” DOES NOT mean frozen or canned! No, no, no, no, no, no, and no.
